When NAPALM DEATH arrived to the Heavy Metal spectrum back in 1981, the band was manufacturing a sub-genre that would change Heavy Metal forever! 34 years later the band is still here and can be blamed for Grindcore music being one of the most original sub-genres of Metal.

While the band was formed in Meriden, West Midlands, England in 1981 it wasn't until 1987, following multiple lineup changes, that NAPALM DEATH released their debut album Scum via Earache Records. Ever since then, the band has been one of the most hard working bands in the world and without having a "commercial" sound, they have managed to gather a significant worldwide audience thanks to their extreme musical vision along with their willingness to fly the flag of Grindcore.

Once again, the Kings of Grindcore delivered their trademark punishing sound on their fifteenth studio album entitled Apex Predator - Easy Meat (available now via Century Media Records). For their NEW album the band recruited Russ Russell to sit behind the board and produce yet another masterpiece.

From the moment the title track is ignited, there is no doubt that the band has once again pushed their musical envelope to the limit. Our only beef with the bands follow up to 2013's Utalitarian, is that the record is a bit short (clocking in at only at 40:04). Yes, this is a NAPALM DEATH record, but in our humble opinion, the record could have included one or two more tracks without losing power. Yes, the record flows very smoothly and punishes ear drums relentlessly, but Apex Predator - Easy Meat keeps the listener wanting more and more. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Specially since NAPALM DEATH recorded plenty of bonus tracks!

While trends come and go, NAPALM DEATH keep giving their collective middle fingers to musical acts that will remain unnamed but that will only be around momentarily. The Brits on the other hand, have plenty of musical fuel to burn for years to come.

What we've always liked about NAPALM DEATH is their ability to expand their musical style, without losing sight of their ultimate goal. They also possess a "signature sound", which is harder and harder to find these days. Get Apex Predator - Easy Meat HERE!.
