The NEW PENNYWISE album, is not actually "new" at all. Their recent disc, Yesterdays is actually a re-recording of "old songs and out-takes" from their early years. With this in mind, the slight stylistic change here makes more sense. PW's most recent output has always been punctuated with almost Thrash-like speed, but while the songs here are uptempo, they're not quite as fast. However, the album features the return of original vocalist Jim Lindberg, which is very exciting!

Opening track "What You Deserve" is enjoyable, but doesn't pack the punch of their more recent material. What this album provides is a snapshot into the "Origins of Pennywise". It's almost a "Garage Days" type of album, and probably shouldn't be held to the same standards as an actual "new" release.

The production is not quite as polished this time around, but it suits the older material. "Restless Time" follows the opener, and is definitely a stronger track. "Noise Pollution" is one of the standouts, featuring Jim Lindberg's classic pissed-off vocal delivery. Some tracks, like the excellent "Thanksgiving" and "Slow Down" were penned by their late bass player, Jason Thirsk, who tragically took his life in 1996. Album closer "I Can Remember" is a standout, featuring an infectious chorus and that classic Cali sound Pennywise has perfected over the years. This release should satisfy any PENNYWISE fan until the next, all-NEW release eventually surfaces.
